2018 11th Annual Cedar & Maple Gala
It was our pleasure to host the 11th Cedar & Maple Gala on May 17th at the Cunard Centre, downtown Halifax. With over 700 attendees, the evening was referred to repeatedly as the premiere business event of the year as guests enjoyed this prestigious annual Gala.
Attendees were able to experience the taste and music of Lebanon while watching the dabke traditional dance during the pre reception which led into the awards dinner.
Keynote speaker, Salim Zeenni, came from Lebanon to address attendees and share his personal success story and accomplishments. Zeenni left feeling inspired by our culturally infused Lebanese community. “When I came to Halifax, honestly I wasn’t expecting to see what I have seen. I have been around the world and have seen many Lebanese expats. I have never seen what you are experiencing here in Halifax. You live in such synergy here and are integrated in a way you can not dissifer between the two, they are all Canadians doing what is best for their country, Canada.”
The highlight of the night were the winners. The stories of perseverance, success and pride in their community was inspiring to us all. It was with great joy to honour the following 2018 award winners:
Lebanese Business Person of the Year- David Gossen
Lebanese Owned Business of the Year- Major Brothers Ltd.
Lebanese Professional of the Year- Dr. Hussein Beydoun
Canadian Owned Business of the Year- Kholtech Windows & Entrance Systems

A community that witnessed a small group of immigrants from half way across the world to come build homes, lives and raise their families here.
